HUSBAND & FATHER TO MAKE ONLY PRESS COMMENTS WEDNESDAY

Brad Cunard, the Virginia-Highland resident whose wife and two children were tragically killed by a fallen tree on July 10, will make his first and only comments to the media at a press conference at 2 p.m. inside Whole Foods Store at 650 Ponce de Leon Avenue in Midtown.

Brad's comments will come three days before neighbors and friends help build the new playground in John Howell Park on Virginia Avenue in memory of Lisa, Max and Owen Cunard, who were killed this summer.

Also, fundraising for the playground has reached $105,019, $30,000 short of its $135,000 goal. Fundraising efforts continue, including Wednesday, November 12, when the Whole Foods Market location will be donating five percent of its day's net sales to the Cunard Memorial Fund. Operating hours this day are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. “Whole Foods Market is committed to our immediate community, so tying in this special day with the Virginia-Highland neighborhood is extremely rewarding to us,” said Darrah Horgan, Whole Foods Market Marketing Director.

This weekend, more than 100 neighbors are expected to help build the playground. Twenty-five members of Cub Scout Pack #17, based at Haygood Methodist Church, are camping out Friday and Saturday night with their parents to provide security.

Also, the final tally on the October 21st Restaurant benefit night has been announced. Donations from that night totaled $20,639.93.

For Saturday's build-out, Brad Cunard will be on hand, but will not speak to the press. Instead, family spokespeople Lisa Cunard Harper (sister of Brad) and Bill Kolinger (Lisa's brother) will be available for comment. Neighbors plan to construct the new playground beginning at 7am and continuing throughout the day. Rain date is Saturday, November 22. For contact info on Saturday only , these two cell phones are suggested: Cynthia Gentry (fundraising chair), 404.210.9188, or Jesse Pompei, (Schroder PR), 404.272.5162.

For more info on the fund or Community Build Day, contact Cynthia Gentry at cynthiagentry@mindspring.com or leave a message at 404-222-8244. Contributions to the playground can be made payable to “Park Pride,” and please write “for Cunard Memorial Playground” on the memo line. Mail checks to the Virginia-Highland Civic Association, P.O.
