DOING GOOD ON A BAD DAY
MEMBERS OF CORENET GLOBAL TO IMPROVE EAST LAKE PARK
ATLANTA (April 29, 2005) – Friday the 13 th is not a day most people look forward to – it's traditionally been associated with bad luck. However, for the Atlanta Chapter of CoreNet Global, Friday, May 13 th represents a day full of good fortune for the East Lake community in Atlanta.
For the third consecutive year, CoreNet Global, the world's premier association for corporate real estate and related professions, will sponsor a day-long event to revitalize East Lake Park. This year's event is entitled “Doing Good on a Bad Day” and will take place on Friday, May 13 th at the park, where more than 100 real estate executives and developers, most of which are from Fortune 500 companies, will participate in various improvement projects. Members of the Atlanta City Council also will be in attendance.
The annual event highlights CoreNet Global's continuous effort to improve the standard of living in Atlanta's East Lake community, which has experienced a significant turnaround in recent years. In 2002, CoreNet became a corporate supporter of the community's Neighbor in Need (NiN) program, which stems from the Community Reinvestment Challenge (CRC) of CoreNet's Atlanta Chapter.
Since then, CoreNet has been a pivotal factor in East Lake's emergence as a family community in the booming Metro Atlanta area. The organization's contributions in repairing, renovating and restoring areas throughout the community – including a prominent Atlanta Braves baseball field in East Lake Park -- have helped East Lake significantly enhance its appearance and image, both for residents and beyond.
The East Lake project represents the largest community-based event for CoreNet's Atlanta Chapter. “Doing Good on a Bad Day” begins at 8 a.m. and runs through 4:00 p.m. at East Lake Park's Zaban Center, established by Erwin Zaban, former Chairman of National Service Industries (NSI) and a p rominent community member. The Zaban Center is located in the heart of the community, where senior citizens and kids meet to enjoy activities.
Objectives to make the area cleaner and safer include the following:
-
Repairing a roof leak
- Fixing various elements in the kitchen
- Improving the exterior
- Revitalizing the playground area and spreading mulch
- Restoring the damaged ball field
Schedule of Events:
- 8 a.m. -- Kickoff breakfast
- 9 a.m. -- Renovation efforts begin
- Noon -- Lunch with remarks from Martin Brannon, President of CoreNet's Atlanta Chapter
- Afternoon -- Renovations continue
