Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States. It is estimated that more than one million new cases are diagnosed annually. The annual rates of all forms of skin cancer are increasing each year, representing a growing public concern. It has also been estimated that nearly half of all Americans who live to age 65 will develop skin cancer at least once. Sun exposure is a leading cause of skin cancer. You should consult your doctor if you have any suspicious skin changes or lesions including: moles that have changed in appearance, bleed, or become itchy, new moles or sores, ulcers that do not heal, and moles that have grown or exhibit unusual changes.
