Dear members, Welcome to our first-ever Trends enewsletter! This year we are producing four editions of Trends – alternating between print and an enewsletter. With the enewsletter we have the benefits of lower cost as well as the opportunity to include many more photos of our events. Our next print version will be mailed in September. What an amazing first half of 2008 our chapter has had. We have just completed our annual sponsor "thank you" golf tournament and once again, it was a resounding success. We had a new leader this year running things. Anna Ford stepped in to assume the reins from Steve Jones who ran the tournament for the past few years, after assuming control from Greg O'Brien. These present (and past) board members have done an outstanding job and continue to dedicate themselves to making sure our chapter is one of the strongest in CoreNet. |
Education Forum and
Scott Jennings, Chair of the Education Forum, and his team have been working hard to bring what will sure to be another exciting day of educational sessions for our 3rd Annual Education Forum, to be held at the Georgia World Congress Center. Promoting Diversity:
“It's time to make CoreNet a more diverse organization,” said Darlene Hawksley of LCG Real Estate Services, Chairman of the Membership Committee of CoreNet Global Atlanta Chapter. “Less than one percent of the Atlanta CoreNet chapter is minorities. Our board doesn't feel it is a true representation of what's going on commercially in our city.” In an effort to increase diversity in the organization, the Membership Committee hosted a reception with Atlanta Association of Commercial Real Estate, known as AcreNet, a group devoted to facilitating business for minorities in commercial real estate. There was a record attendance at the New Members' Luncheon, with more than 37 people attending the May 22 event at The Buckhead Club. Several officers and board members were present and shared information on committee activities, encouraging new members to get involved. They were also introduced to the benefits of membership, including the Executive Development Program and additional information available to them on the CoreNet Global Website. The next new members luncheon will be on August 21.
